Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is known for his sharp-witted and sly parts in action films. He has appeared in more than $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German actor, was born in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany on March 19 1955, to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey) who resided on a military base within the United States. The family relocated to America soon after his birth. He was raised in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother worked as bank clerk, and his father worked as an electrician and in the factory. Willis was interested in drama at the age of high school. When he worked at an New York City café, it was reported that he was "discovered". He then began to appear in a variety of off-Broadway shows. In one bar the bartender was noticed by a casting director who liked his persona and was in need of bartenders for a tiny film part. Willis was part of numerous auditions prior to being cast in the romantic comedy of the same name, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is one of the most memorable of his career. His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is frequently viewed as a test for his character John McClane, the hardboiled NYC detective in Die Hard (1988), which saw Willis combat a gang of brutal international thieves in an Los Angeles skyscraper. The sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his character in the role of McClane. The story was set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim an unjust South American general. The film's outstanding box office results prompted another sequel to Die Hart with avengeance (1995). This time Samuel L. Jackson starred as a cynical Harlem shopkeeper who was accidentally forced to assist McClane during a terror attack on a hot New York City day.
