Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th November 1977. Steve Aoki is an American electro house artist
recording producer, D.J. Music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky
Aoki's kids. His father, who was a former wrestler, co-founded the chain of
restaurants Benihana. There are two siblings who are sisters Kana who is
frequently called Grace because of her middle name Grace and brother Kevin
(owner of Doraku Sushi). The half-sister of his is Devon Aoki, a model and
actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California & graduated from
Newport Harbor High School in 1995, where he was a member of the varsity
badminton team. He later attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He
received two degrees in sociology, and another in feminist studies. He also
made records for DIY and also hosted underground music events from his Biko
room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative while in college. The
Pickle Patch became a performance venue when the building was renamed The
Pickle Patch. He was active in student activism and established a Revolutionary
Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. In his early 20s, Dim Mak had
founded his own record company, which he called Dim Mak in honor of his hero
from childhood Bruce Lee. He released I'm in the House in March 2010 as a
collaboration with the Zuper Blahq who is the alter-ego of will.i.am from the
Black Eyed Peas. The song reached No. 29 in the U.K. Singles Chart in the very
first week of its release. It ranked in the top 5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart
& U.K. Dance Chart. The track was featured on the MTV series Jersey
Shore. It also was included in Piranha the feature film Piranha as well as the
trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in
a interview in May 2010 with HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently
worked with Aoki on a single. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the top dance
artist in terms of revenue in North America from tours. His collaborations with
artists include Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182,
Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy.
He is known for his remixes of artists including Kid Cudi.
